Beat the Favourite Alternatives

A measured look at the service, its proposition and the questions a prospective subscriber should ask.

What the service says it does

The merchant currently presents Beat the Favourite as a horse-racing tips service from Pete Thompson. Its sales page says it avoids favourites, focuses on value in overlooked horses and sends tips by email. It currently advertises a £14.95 monthly plan and a £79 one-year option, with a 30-day refund guarantee. The same sales page makes performance and profit claims; Racing Value Report treats those as merchant claims, not independently verified results. Alternatives include other paid tipsters, free editorial tips and doing your own form-and-price analysis; compare them on evidence and fit rather than headline returns.

What to examine before paying

Look beyond headline profit figures. Check the time period behind any record, number of selections, staking assumptions, whether quoted prices were realistically available, losing sequences, subscription cost and whether results are independently auditable. Past results do not guarantee future results.

Our assessment framework

The interesting part of the proposition is its focus on price rather than automatically backing favourites. That is a legitimate concept to study, but a sound concept does not by itself verify a particular tipster's claimed edge. Treat subscription fees and betting losses as separate costs.
